What we have done:<br />
This week we have worked on using tape diagrams to solve multiplication problems and division problems. In content, we continued to learn about how the westward expansion affected the Native Americans. In writing, we worked on our personal narratives. In language, we worked on making predictions, questioning and vocabulary.<br />
<br />
Happening this week:<br />
ELA:<br />
We will be reading Babushka’s Doll this week. Students will be working on making predictions and using questioning to help understand their reading. They also will go over making connections. We will work on a narrative writing piece and learn how to organize our writing and how to make revisions and to edit for mistakes.<br />
<br />
Math: <br />
We are going to continue to learn about division and multiplication. We will also continue to learn about the distributive property again. <br />
<br />
Content:<br />
We will not have content this next Friday because there is no school.<br />

Other Information:<br />
There is no school next Friday! Teachers have professional development this day.<br />

We have wrapped up NWEA testing this week! We have learned about different reading strategies and how to apply them in our own reading. In math, we have continued to learn about multiplication and division. We have practiced how to use the commutative and distributive property.<br />

Students will be working on making predictions and using questioning to help understand their reading. We will work on a narrative writing piece and learn how to organize our writing and write interesting introductions.<br />

We are going to continue to learn about division and multiplication. We will learn strategies to multiply by 3’s and 4’s. <br />

Students will be creating projects about the impact Westward Expansion had on the Native Americans.<br />

We are starting an author study on Patricia Polacco reading Thunder Cake this week. We will be using different strategies to dig deeper into the book throughout the week. <br />

We have had a wonderful first two days of class! We have been working on our classroom procedures, expectations, and getting to know each other. Below you will find what will be happening next week.<br />

Students will be focusing on understanding and following the routines for Reader’s and Writer’s Workshops. Also I will be listening to each child read during this month to find out what their reading level is currently. Hopefully, your child is reading each night at home to help practice their reading ability and fluency with word recognition. <br />
<b>Math</b>: <br />
We are starting Module 1 of Eureka Math where students will begin learning multiplication. Students will know how to use repeated addition, arrays, and equal groups as strategies to solve multiplication problems. <br />
<b>Content:</b><br />
Students will be learning about the Louisiana Purchase and we will begin exploring with Lewis and Clark.<br />
<b>Other Information:</b><br />
Water bottles are welcome as long as they have a lid. Students are not allowed to bring any toys from home to have at recess.<br />

This week we started working on research for our Famous Missourian project. In math we continued practicing multiplying with 9’s and added two step-word problems. In ELA, we read, “My Rotten, Redheaded, Older Brother” and learned about problem and solution.. We had fun creating our own “solutions” to the story. Third grade also worked on identifying adjectives in books and how to use them in our writing.<br />

ELA:<br />
In writing, we will continue Famous Missourians publishing and working on our projects. We will also be learning about text features of non-fiction books.<br />
<br />
Math: <br />
We will be multiplying using 10’s and add in two-step word problems. At the end of the week we will take a test!<br />

Content:<br />
Students will continue working on PBL about Famous Missourians.<br />

Tuesday night February 6th<br />
At the Clever HS boys basketball game! Gate opens at 4:30!<br />

This year we are raising funds to send some very deserving kids in the Clever family, and a few others from the area, to Camp Barnabas! Camp Barnabas is a week long summer camp for people with special needs and chronic illnesses. The Barnabas experience changes perspectives and redefines disability.<br />
<br />
We will be raffling off various gifts (branson family getaways, couples getaways, jewelry, handmade items and more), serving Pulled Pork meals and a baked potato bar, have freshly made cinnamon rolls, have shooting contests for prizes ($2/person), a Designer Genes game, and be smashing a chocolate pie into the face of the losing coach of our PITF challenge! You can also pick up your Barnabas or Bust t-shirts that night! Come out and help us send as many kids as we can to this unforgettable camp! See you there!!<br />

What we have done:<br />
This week we have finished animal research writing. In math we took a test and learn new tricks for multiplying by 9’s. In ELA, we read a story on Martin Luther King Jr. and learned about timelines. We created a timeline of his life. Third grade also learned about adverbs and took an assessment over them.<br />

ELA:<br />
In writing we will continue researching Famous Missourians. Also students will be learning about adjectives and how they describe a noun. <br />

Math: <br />
We will continue using patterns with multiplication and division. <br />

Content:<br />
Students will continue working on PBL about Famous Missourians.<br />

Knowing fact families with addition and subtraction like 8 + 7 = 15 so 15 - 8 = 7<br />
Also knowing multiplication facts will help your child with division too 6 X 7 = 42 so 42 ÷ 7 = 6<br />
Your child can practice their facts at home with online games, flashcards, and quizzes! <br />

What we have done:<br />
With being gone for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and three snow days, we have moved this week’s lessons to next week. Today we were able to work on our animal informational writing. Also today, students started deciding who they would like to research for a Famous Missourian. More information about the Famous Missourian paper, project and wax museum will be coming home next week. <br />

ELA:<br />
In writing we will finish publishing animal paper while we start to research Famous Missourians. Also students will be learning about adverbs and how an adverb describes a verb. <br />
<br />
Math: <br />
We will be taking a mid-module exam over multiplication and division. <br />

Dear Parent or Guardian,<br />
We are pleased to announce the Tooth Truck has the opportunity to treat eligible children at our site in the coming weeks. The Tooth Truck provides comprehensive treatment, from cleanings and x-rays, to repairing cavities at no charge for qualifying families. Requirements for being seen and treated on the Tooth Truck are:<br />
<br />
-Qualify for the free and reduced lunch program at school<br />
-Cannot be an established patient of a local dentist<br />
-Cannot have private dental insurance<br />
-Must complete a Tooth Truck application form<br />
<br />
The Tooth Truck treats Medicaid-eligible and uninsured children from ages 3-18 years. Children seen last year are not eligible for a routine check up but should apply if there is a new dental concern. <br />
You may call your school and request an application form. Please complete an application form and return to the school nurse as soon as possible. <br />
The Tooth Truck staff will be scheduling students very soon.<br />
