Third Grade News - March 2, 2018

What we have done:
This week we have been working on how to find the area of different squares and rectangles. In ELA, we discussed point of view with the book, “Pink and Say”. In writing, we have finished presenting our Famous Missourian projects in class!

ELA:
Our mentor text will be, “The Civil War Years”. We will begin our unit on the Civil War and discuss what we know, what we want to know, and what we will be learning.

Math: 
We will finish up discussing area of shapes and begin a review. We will end the week with a test. The students will also get to sketch their name on grid paper and find the area of their names.

Content:
Students will start to learn about how Missouri became a state and how the Civil War began.

Important Dates: Penny Wars is this week!!!
March 8th- Superhero Dance from 6pm-8pm in Fema Shelter.
March 5th-9th Penny Wars
March 9th- Read-a-thon and end of 3rd quarter.
March 12th-16th- Spring Break

Continue to work on multiplication facts and strategies.
Zearn.org is a wonderful website that gives the students extra practice on the math lessons they have learned.
Xtramath is a great resource for fact fluency.
