Third Grade News - August 17, 2018

Welcome back to school.   I’m excited to be apart of your child’s learning this year.  I will post the weekly news on my Clever teacher blog page at: https://cleverdodson.blogspot.com   If  you have  any questions or concerns, please let me know.  I want to make this the best year possible and keep the lines of communication open.

What we have done:
We have had a wonderful first two days of class!  We have been working on our classroom procedures, expectations, and getting to know each other.  Below you  will find what will be happening next week.

ELA:
Students will be focusing on understanding and following the routines for Reader’s and Writer’s Workshops.  Also I will be listening to each child read during this month to find out what their reading level is currently.  Hopefully, your child is reading each night at home to help practice their reading ability and fluency with word recognition.
Math
We are starting Module 1 of Eureka Math where students will begin learning multiplication.  Students will know how to use repeated addition, arrays, and equal groups as strategies to solve multiplication problems.
Content:
Students will be learning about the Louisiana Purchase and we will begin exploring with Lewis and Clark.
Other Information:
Water bottles are welcome as long as they have a lid.   Students are not allowed to bring any toys from home to have at recess.
